Central Texas freezes are the real plumbing hazard
People assume this climate makes winterization optional. It does not. A handful of hard freeze nights a year is more than enough to split a line or crack a pump housing, and the damage usually is not discovered until the system is pressurized again months later — by which point water has been running into a cabinet base or a floor for however long it took someone to notice.
Winterization is inexpensive and fast. Repairing a rig that froze while it sat in storage over a January cold snap is neither.
Small leaks cause structural damage
A slow leak at a fitting behind a wall panel does not announce itself. It soaks into luan and framing exactly the way a roof leak does, and RV floors and walls are built from materials that do not tolerate sustained moisture. A pump that runs briefly every twenty minutes with no faucet open is telling you there is a leak somewhere in the system, and that symptom is worth acting on immediately.
Pressure testing finds the actual source rather than the visible symptom, which matters because water tracks along the frame and shows up well away from where it entered.
